It can be challenging to keep a critique on track! Some of the common reasons for this are:
- Taking feedback personally
- Personal opinions rather than objective and constructive feedback
- Feedback based on hypothetical and untested scenarios
- Trying to problem-solve during the critique
- Only focussing on what’s wrong with a design
- Scheduling long critiques or going over on time
- Off-topic questions
- Premature feedback not relevant to the current stage of the design
- Not understanding the objectives or problems the proposed design set out to address
- Not understanding the constraints the design solution had to work within
- Poorly (or lack of) defined personas
